Alcohol sobriety can be challenging for some, as it forces one to see things for what they are without any intoxication to distract them. However, this challenge can be conquered, as proven by actor and filmmaker, Thishiwe Ziqubu who celebrates one year without drinking alcohol.

In a candid post they shared, Thishiwe is beaming with pride as they indulge in a non-alcoholic drink, in celebration of sobriety.

In the mini clip shared on their Instagram page, Thishiwe said: “This past year I have been gifted with such peace, so much clarity and the joy that comes with the reservoirs of self. But it’s been damn challenging because you basically have to stare at yourself, your scars, your wounds and everything around you without any distraction, and that sh*t is hard. But, hey, I wouldn’t have it any other way,” said Thishiwe.

Another actress, Nozuko Ntshangase said: “Congratulations.”

An Instagram user said: “I am really struggling with one month but I’m almost there. Four days to go. It’s doable, but hard. One day at a time.”

The veteran thespian, writer and director have recently been celebrated by Actors Spaces page in their faces off segment, where they share pictures of different characters an actor has played over the years.
