Babes Wodumo expresses gratitude ahead of reality show premiere

by Sergio Miller

With just a month to go until the official premiere of her eagerly awaited reality show, Wena Wodumo, the singer-songwriter, Babes Wodumo, has expressed excitement.

In a recent post on her Instagram page, the singer shared the trailer to the upcoming show, which, by the looks of it, promises to be a banger as it delves into some of her most private moments and deepest aspects of her life.

Captioning her post, she wrote: “My journey is finally going to be revealed in public. From the 1st day of being a widow. My crying days, misbelief, trauma, depression, conflicts, and heartbreaks everything will be aired on the show. South Africa, this is my journey, and welcome to my world.”

Speaking to the entertainment publication Citizen News, the Redemption hitmaker explained that while she has been a part of many other reality shows, this one will be different as it marks the first time that she does a show as a widow following the passing of her late husband, Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, with who she has shared the screen in Uthando Lodumo.

The late member of the group Big Nuz, died in 2022 just days after suffering a stroke.

In her reflection on what it was like doing the new reality show on her own, she said:

“This time, there’s no Mampintsha — it’s just me, my family, and my in-laws. There are so many conflicts, moments of depression, and heartbreak from our loss.

“It’s really different from my other shows. I have poured my heart out to the public for this show,” she highlighted.

She revealed that some of the most difficult parts of this journey were realising how much she misses being alongside him on set or coming home after a long day and feeling his warm embrace.

Meanwhile, she credited the role that her family has played in providing support and comfort.

The show is set to premiere on Saturday, 29 March on Moja Love.
