Multi-award-winning songstress and songwriter, Simphiwe Dana is set to celebrate a milestone in her career with a concert.

Her debut album, Zandisile marks 20 years since it was released. The album was released to the public in 2005, it garnered popularity for its iconic songs including Ndiredi, Thwel’ Ubunzima and Ndize Mama Tata; and won her an award for Best Newcomer at the South African Music Awards (SAMA).

On its worldwide release, the album gained success in the Billboard charts and she won an AVO Session Basel Award. Known for her soul-healing music, Simphiwe revealed a while back that she wrote this album after she found out she was pregnant with her daughter, Zazi Zandisile Dana, and named the album after her.

Recently, the Mayine singer took to her Instagram page to announce that she will celebrate this album that shaped her music career with a music concert under the theme- Reflections.

In her caption, she said she will be exploring songs from her repertoire in the upcoming celebration. The celebration will be held at the Baxter Theatre Centre, in Cape Town on the 27th and 28th of June, at 19h30.

“It’s been 20 years since my debut album Zandisile and we have to celebrate this milestone together,” she penned.

She extended her invitation to Cape Town and other supporters to attend the concert.

“Cape Town, I invite you and other supporters in South Africa to this auspicious event to celebrate 20 years since we began our musical journey together.”
