Music executive, Nhlamulo Nota Baloyi is still reeling from the aftermath of the rape case that was filed against him by actress and musician, Itumeleng Bokaba.

Nota made his final appearance at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Valentine’s Day, where magistrate Pravina Raghunandan revealed that the rape case has been withdrawn.

Speaking to Daily Sun after the withdrawal of the charges, Nota expressed relief and said: “Part one of the nightmare is over. Now, we wait for the outcome of the protection order I filed for harassment and extortion before I handed myself over to the police.”

In a statement released by Itumeleng on her Instagram page, she made it clear that her withdrawal of the case does not nullify her ordeal, she withdrew the case because she has been presented with an amazing career opportunity, that requires her full focus, dedication, and a positive headspace for her to be able to see her project through. She also highlighted that she will remain firm to her truth and will revisit the case at a later stage.

Speaking to Sunday World, Nota said: “My family has been both emotionally and financially supportive throughout. The most concerning thing for me is that the complainant still thinks that this is a joke. She does not care about the hurt and pain she has caused me and my family. And also how her handling of the matter triggers real victims.”

The allegations first came to light after Itumeleng opened a case of rape at the Douglasdale Police Station against Nota, who later handed himself over to the Randburg Police station. Nota was later released on R5 000 bail after he appeared at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.

In response, Nota denied the allegations and filed for a protection order against Itumeleng, citing that their altercation was consensual and accused her of harassment and extortion.
