While the future of PSL team Royal AM remains a mystery, the club’s biggest fan, Mama Joy has revealed that the club’s collapse will not see her going back to former club Orlando Pirates.

The sports superfan, whose real name is Joy Chauke, recently expressed sadness following the news that the club she has been a big supporter of, will now be up for sale. This comes after its current owner has found herself bumping heads with local tax authorities, SARS.

Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Joy shared a screenshot of the latest trends, which should both her as well as the owner of the Royal AM, Shawn Mkhize, topping the top 5 of the list, following the recent revelations.

Captioning her post, she wrote: “Have Mercy guys, it’s painful”.

She later shared another post in support of Ma’Mkhize.

My Children knows where we come from and they know this is just 1 of the seoson ,,,, with them I don’t have any fear that maybe 1 day they will leave me ,,,, together forever ,,, life goes on guys ,,, but I still respect and love U Ma,,Thanks Mamkhize Thwihli pic.twitter.com/NrsjCIyi3J

This past weekend, the sports lover raised the eyebrows of many soccer fans. This comes after she was photographed supporting Tshwane-based team Mamelodi Sundowns in their 4-1 victory over her former club of choice Orlando Pirates.

While most of the public assumed that she had been switching teams because of Royal AM’s financial troubles, Joy recently highlighted that this was far from true.

Instead, she highlighted that the only reason she supported the “Brazilians” was because she enjoyed seeing the buccanneers being humbled in defeat because of how they treated her in the past.

In an interview with entertainment publication Daily Sun, she said: “They made me feel like I was nothing. As if they could stop me from attending soccer matches whenever they wanted. That deeply hurt me. That’s why I supported Sundowns when they won 4-1. I was happy, but that does not mean I am a Sundowns or a Kaizer Chiefs fan,” she highlighted.

While she admits that the situation is a tough one, she will not be supporting any other club if the Royal AM closes down. Instead, she will shift her attention to supporting the various national teams.
