A video of a deadly snake ready to attack a leashed dog led to a heated debate among TikTok users after it was widely shared on social media.

This is after a TikTok user, @lelamiqhayiya who was home alone at the time of the incident, shared a clip on her TikTok asking for help as a snake was attacking her dog.

The video attracted over four million users, with some stirring up controversy in her comment section. In the shared video that had a suspenseful ending, she can be heard asking for help while her dog is barking loudly in an attempt to fight a snake. While asking for help she mentions that Nolwazi who is her mother is not home to help her.

Her video left some wondering if the dog was not bitten or killed by the snake, while some said she should go help the dog instead of recording for content.

In a follow-up video, she clarified that she tried to post the video where the snake was killed by her neighbours. However, the TikTok app restricted her from doing so, with a warning. She said in the video the neighbours came and killed the snake.

An uproar continued in the comment section among TikTok users, with some asking why was the dog bound and some demanding to see the dog after the incident.

One user said: “Aibo jikijela (throw) something, poor dog.”

Another one said: “So you guys are saying she must go out and help the dog kwi cobra haibo animthandi omnye umntana (you don’t like the poor child).”

While another one said: “The dog is barking for help. While you’re taking a video for content with excitement! You’re a horrible human being, you shouldn’t keep animals ever again.”

Upon seeing the comments, in an attempt to defend herself and clarify further, Lelamiqhayiya took to her TikTok page to share a video. On the video, she said she heard the dog barking loudly while she was in her room, and looked through the window to see what was going on. To her surprise, there was a snake in the yard, she panicked and called her mother to let her know what was happening. Her mother said she would call the neighbours to help get rid of the snake.

She then captured a video that she later shared on her WhatsApp status where she knew that people who were in her vicinity would see the video and assist. She said the people came and the snake was no longer there, they then decided to burn the grass and it came out. That is when it was killed and burnt with the grass. In the end, she assured that the dog was safe and it was not harmed by the snake.
