Former Miss South Africa Shudufhadzo Musida has embarked on a new journey in New York City.

She was recently appointed as the United Nations Population Fund’s (UNPF’s) Global Champion for Women and Girls.

Shudu left South Africa last year in August to pursue her Master’s degree at Columbia University in New York. In an interview with SowetanLive, she expressed her excitement and adaptability to her new life in the Big Apple.

She revealed that she chose this school because it is one of the best when it comes to public policy. She also shared that after matric, she tried getting into the school but was rejected only to make it there 10 years later.

The South African model shared that she is fully embracing the American culture, saying “I feel America, New York specifically.”  She also mentioned that she enjoys exploring the city, trying new foods, and learning about the different cultures that make up the city’s vibrant melting pot.

As she navigates her new life, she reflects on the lessons she learned during her reign as Miss South Africa. She emphasised the importance of being true to oneself and staying focused on one’s goals.

She also spoke about her future plans, hinting at pursuing opportunities in the entertainment industry. With her confidence, resilience, and passion, she is sure to make a mark in the city that never sleeps. As she continues to settle into her new life, she remains grateful for the support of her loved ones back home in South Africa.
