Sello Sebotsane’s guilt catching up with him – pleads with ex-wife Shoki Mmola to forgive him

The first step to recovery is to admit that something is wrong, and it appears veteran actor Sello Sebotsane is ready to turn a new leaf as he seeks redemption from ex-wife Shoki Mmola and his daughters for the abuse and damage he has put them through.

Sello was an actor who boasted an illustrious and impressive acting career characterised by some memorable characters that brought fond memories to many viewers. That was until his reputation suffered a domestic violence stint after news broke that he had been abusing his ex-wife former Skeem Saam actress Shoki Mmola.

In an attempt to right his wrongs, Sello took to his social media pages to share a video where he issued an apology directed to his ex-wife Shoki, as well as their two daughters Oratile and Karabo. In the apology, he expresses deep remorse and regret for his unjustifiable actions.

He then goes on to appeal to younger boys and men, encouraging them to do and be better people in society. He condemns violence, citing that it is destructive and dangerous. He also urges his fellow men to break harmful stereotypes and rather express their emotions rather than suppress them.

“Let’s learn to let it out, let’s learn to speak. Yes, be vulnerable,” he says.

This apology comes as no surprise to those who have been keeping up with social media these past few weeks as we have seen Sello attempt to reintegrate himself into society with a few viral comedic clips that had mzansi talking. One of the major talking points users brought up was his GBV scandal, claiming that they did not want to see the actor anywhere back on their screens.

While we are here giggling, I just want to remind everyone that this man abuse mama Shoki (for Sebotsane) Mmola during their marriage https://t.co/8wQPxALn8N

This begs the question, is this a genuine apology, or is it merely for show in order to gain the country’s favour again? I guess we’ll never know.
