This is one of the most stressful times for students as they are expected to go back to their Universities to register for the academic year. Others are struggling with getting funds from NSFAS and other bursaries whilst others do not even qualify for bursaries.

Award-winning musician Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, popularly known as Makhadzi has been shown appreciation by the University of Venda for helping out students who are struggling. It indeed takes a village to raise a child. The Ghanama hitmaker vowed to assist 20 students with bursaries through her foundation. The foundation’s mission is to help students in South Africa, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Sharing with ZiMoja, the award-winning singer revealed that she started this initiative because she saw how some of her friends struggled while growing up.

Revealing more about why she decided to do this generous deed, she explained, “This is because some of the disadvantaged backgrounds they come from. I have witnessed firsthand the struggles that many of my peers faced and I knew education is a powerful tool for change.”

The University of Venda later took to their Instagram account to appreciate Makhadzi who was at their school to assist students with registration funds. In a lengthy, yet heartwarming caption, they shared their gratitude to Makhadzi who they referred to as their  “Queen”.

“Makhadzi is weaving a tapestry of hope, compassion, and impactful change,” they added.

Concluding the post, they wrote: “Thank you, Makhadzi, for being a shining example of generosity and kindness.”
