Bonni B shares frustrations following BBM exit – ‘There are two sides to a story’

Big Brother Mzansi reality star Bongiwe “Bonnie B” Booi has recently defended herself amid online controversy surrounding her on-air feud with fellow contestant.

The now-evicted star has faced criticism from many people online after her insensitive comments on Kay B’s rape ordeal left a bitter taste in the mouths of viewers.

This comes after she commented on how Kay B was quite comfortable walking around naked on the show and allowed men to touch her after being a rape victim.

This has resulted in many calling for action to be taken against Bonnie which later resulted in her stay on the reality show being cut short.

Speaking to the news publication The Citizen, Bonnie believes that she was misunderstood by both Kay B as well as the viewers back home. She highlighted that she sees herself as a straightforward person who usually speaks her mind – this has often been interpreted as her being a rude person.

“I definitely feel like I was misunderstood because I believe there were two sides to the story. On one side, yes, she was abused, and I do sympathise with her and understand what she has gone through.

“But on the other side, her saying that she had to sleep with different men for basic needs — I will never understand that because that was a choice she made on her own,” she said. Meanwhile, in an interview with lifestyle magazine DRUM, she added that the removal from the show was something she expected.

“The week before, I could feel everyone had this distaste in their mouth about me. I am a straight talker, so people who don’t understand me thought I was rude. But those who did understand me knew I was saying things others were afraid to say.” Meanwhile, she explained that she regretted how things turned out and felt like things could have been done differently.
