The year started on a bittersweet note for Lara Langeveld, mom to the late amapiano artist Costa Titch.

This past weekend, fans from various parts of the country filled the air with green biodegradable balloons in memory of the renowned singer who would have celebrated his 30th birthday on the 26th of January.

For his mother Lara, this was even more overwhelming as she now holds on to the memories they made throughout the past 28 years of his existence. In a lengthy Instagram post, Lara shared a tribute message to her late son.

“You would have been 30 today – a milestone filled with dreams and achievements we know you would have reached. Though you are no longer here with us, your light shines brighter than ever in our hearts and in the lives of those you’ve touched.”

She added that they as a family find themselves missing the character traits that made him special, they find comfort in knowing that he is now watching over them.

“You’re not gone – you’ve just moved to a heavenly stage, and we know you’re still dancing, still dreaming, still inspiring.”

The rapper died in March 2023 after collapsing during a performance at the Ultra Music Festival in Johannesburg.

Following his passing, it was alleged that the cause of his death might have been the result of an epilepsy. However, an autopsy report which was released in May last year confirmed that his cause of death was because of significant heart strain that was unbeknown to him which was compounded by stress and fatigue. A statement further highlighted that this led to an irregular heartbeat and triggered a seizure which claimed his life.

While Lara initially suspected that foul play was involved, she later highlighted that the report has given her some closure.
