With the 2025 school year officially kicking off, Skeem Saam actor Mahlatsi Moropa has offered learners some valuable advice.

When it comes to the pressures scholars face during their schooling journey there is not much that surprises Mahlatsi. This comes as the 21-year-old has had to deal with hard work and sacrifice from an early stage in his life. He was still a scholar when he first found his big break into the acting industry, and has been thriving ever since.

In a previous interview with SABC Education, the young actor described securing his role as Letetswe, while still in high school, as one of his happiest moments ever.

These days, he has built quite a reputation for himself as a fan favourite – this ultimately led him to receiving the Best Viewer’s Choice Actor award at last year’s Royalty Soapie Awards.

In a recent interview with the news and entertainment publication, Daily Sun, Mahlatsi offered current scholars some tips to make the best of their 2025 school year.

For the Polokwane born actor, the key trick is to start the year strong and remaining focused and consistent.

He explains that it is important to be smart in one’s decision making, adding that one should set small and achievable goals that will produce good results in the future. Meanwhile, he added that another trick is to take the bold step and ask for help where necessary.

Furthermore, he had some advice for the matric class of 2025 as well.

“This year is a marathon, not a sprint. Manage your time wisely, stay disciplined, and find a balance between studying and self-care.”

Mahlatsi is a firm believer that one’s effort would ensure great results.

“Your effort is what matters most—trust the process, and you’ll achieve great things,” he explains.
