Naledi Aphiwe pays homage to Winnie Khumalo with a tribute song

As the South African music industry mourns the death of the music icon, Winnie Khumalo, rising star, Naledi Aphiwe Myongwane expressed her feelings in a tribute song in honour of the artist.

Naledi known for hits such as Ubaba Ulala Nami and Ngifuna Wena jotted a heartfelt song, which received a nod from fellow artists such as Babes Wodumo, DJ Tira and Zintle Kwaiiman among others.

The songbird took to her Instagram page to share a brief extract of the song, with a caption that read: “Rest in Peace to our wonderful lady Winnie Khumalo, you will always be remembered for your amazing work and voice.”

 

Upon hearing the news, most netizens shared on socials that the first person they thought of was Rethabile Khumalo, daughter of the late Winnie.

Taking to her Instagram page, Rethabile shared the death announcement, confirming that Winnie passed on on the 7th of January, succumbing to a short illness.

As tributes continue to pour in, Dj Zinhle also took to her Instagram page to share her memory of Winnie. In the caption of the post, she vowed to honour the bond between Winnie and Rethabile by surrounding her with the care and love she deserves. She also assured that Rethabile will never walk this journey alone.
