Maskandi giant Mthandeni shocked South Africa when he collaborated with amapiano princess Mawhoo on their smash hit ‘Gucci’. The highly anticipated music video is finally here and it is the talk of the town.

The year, 2024 saw the maskandi genre grow exponentially as it went from catering to one niche population to adopting a more diverse and commercialised sound for all the various tribes and cultures in South Africa to indulge in. The catchy tune proved to be a banger as fans were pleasantly surprised by the maskandi-amapiano crossover the two artists pulled off effortlessly.

This offering is not the first time that Mthandeni has collaborated with a female artist on a smash hit as ‘Paris’ that he worked on with Lwah Ndlunkulu had a similar fate, garnering 23 million YouTube views and counting. Gucci on the other hand, managed to generate approximately 1 million views in the first 24 hours of its release.

In joint post with music giants Channel O, the artists shared the exciting news of the exclusive release of their highly anticipated music video, creating even more hype around the already viral tune.

According to fans and supporters, Mthandeni has separated himself from his peers, as the maskandi world is known for the prominent controversies and fierce competitive nature.
