With a few more weeks left until schools re-open, keeping your children entertained can be a challenging task, fortunately, we live in South Africa, and there is always something fun you can do.

As a parent aside from catering to the safety and security of your child, one of the biggest joys in life is seeing a smile on your little one’s face.

One of how this can be achieved is to take them on some exciting tours of your province or city. This will not only see them have a smile on their faces but is also an amazing time for you and your family to bond after an exhausting year of work – so chances of you destressing are high!

The online lifestyle publication mentions that children can benefit from family trips in several ways, many of which come as an advantage to their development and interpersonal skills.

Some of these include creativity, resourcefulness, social skills, independence, and self-awareness as well as teaching them responsibility.

With summer officially in full swing, here are a few child-friendly activities you and your family can engage in.

GrandWest

Visit Cape Town’s biggest game centre Grand West. With hundreds of various games and activities to try out, you can ensure that your child has the time of their life. The cool thing about this is that fun has no limit, which means that you as the parent can have fun as well. From ten-pin, bowling, to ice-skating this is the place to be.

Christmas Village

Eager to have your family experience the Christmas cheer, then the Christmas Village at Emperors Palace is where you need to be. It is described as the ultimate holiday event with lights, characters, shops, games and even Santa himself. This is suitable for people of all ages and runs until the 31st of December. Tickets for the event are available at TicketPro.

Dino-Mite

If your child has a thing for reptiles and Dinosaurs, then this is going to be a blast. Here you will get a guided educational tour of the history and lifestyles of dinosaurs. The tour will allow your little one to see first-hand how their eggs hatch with live visual interactions as well as a hologram 3D presentation.

This all takes place at the Newcastle Show Hall and runs from 20 to 22 December.
