South African music has now officially found a special place in the hearts of international music lovers.

Following the recent success of amapiano hitmaker, Tyla, Grammy Award-winning DJ Black Coffee has cemented a spot as one of the greats of his field of specialty. This comes after the 48-year-old was recently awarded as the world’s best DJ of 2024 at the Golden Moon Awards.

This year, the annual event which celebrates the top 100 clubs and major contributors to global nightlife, was set to take place in Spain on 20 November.

However, the event was later cancelled because of the DANA storm in Valencia. The winners were, however, later announced online instead.

Meanwhile, joining the ‘Drive’ hitmaker was another South African in the form of DESIREE, who was awarded World Breakthrough Artist of the Year.

Aside from making big strides in his musical career the talented DJ, meanwhile, has his sights set on having an impact in the lives of those who, like him, have a passion for music and are eager to pursue it as a career.

He recently revealed that he has a desire to open his own music college in South Africa.

Speaking about his vision, he told the news and entertainment publication TshisaLive that the plan is to start raising funds and the various shows he will perform at.

“I am about to do a project that is close to my heart, which is a music college. We have started having meetings about that. We are going to start fundraising internationally in the places where I mostly perform. We are going to try to raise funds so that I can build the college,” he said.

Furthermore, local fans are in for a treat as we will soon have the opportunity to see him live in mzansi. This comes as he announced that he will soon be having a show in Cape Town in February and March 2025.
