Renowned author Jackie Phamotse has offered celebrity authors some valuable lessons when it comes to the standard of their content.

In a lengthy post on Instagram, Jackie who has successfully built her reputation as an award-winning writer, expressed her frustration at how celebrities who have ventured into writing their books are producing content that lacks depth and authenticity.

“To be honest. I’m disheartened by the proliferation of poorly crafted ‘celebrity’ books. These publications not only undermine the credibility of the writing community but also insult the very essence of storytelling.”

In her post, she expressed that she believes that being an author is more than just about having the title and status – instead, she explained that it is a sacred responsibility to craft meaningful content that is thoroughly thought out.

“Authors must be willing to share their authentic experiences, shedding light on unknown aspects of their lives.

“Unfortunately, many celebrity books lack substance, relying on fame rather than literary merit. This is unacceptable. To celebrity authors, I urge you to take your time, respect the craft, and strive for excellence […] We love reading but don’t make us hate reading your stories. Respect the reader and their money.”

Following an emotional court battle in which she was sentenced to house arrest after being found guilty of defamation of character and crimen injuria for her online post concerning Basetsana and her husband Romeo Kumalo, Jackie released her 11th Book titled: The Tea Merchant.

The book was released in August, in time for the celebration of Women’s Month. At the time she expressed her excitement ahead of the launch adding that she looked forward to meeting her fans on her book tour.
