MaWhoo issues legal warning to promoter

by Samantha Mochele

South African popular artist MaWhoo has publicly demanded that promoter Eddz cease spreading false and harmful information about her.

Taking to her Facebook page, MaWhoo shared a legal letter that outlines her grievances and requests immediate action to address the defamation that is reportedly harming her reputation and career.

“I hereby humbly request the promoter by the name of Eddz to immediately cease and desist from spreading false and harmful information about me and my music career,” MaWhoo wrote in her letter.

She asserts that the promoter’s actions have constituted defamation, particularly regarding unfounded claims that she failed to perform at the Blouberg Spring Festival in Senwabarwana, Limpopo.

“The false statements you have made about me are entirely unfounded and malicious,” MaWhoo stated.

She stated that her team communicates with promoters prior to any event she is involved in, clarifying that she was neither booked for the event in question nor had she received any deposit.

MaWhoo’s letter shows the emotional toll of the situation, stating, “Your slanderous comments and actions are damaging my reputation and causing emotional distress, detracting from my ability to secure gigs and collaborations.”

The Gucci singer has also provided evidence to support her claims conversation on WhatsApp and has requested the promoter to retract all false accusations and remove any related online content. “Failure to do so may result in legal action,” she warned.

Sunday World approached Eddz for clarification and told the publication that, “I am aware of MaWhoo’s legal threats, but this matter has been resolved. She’s supposed to remove the statement from Facebook.”
