Singer Brenda Mtambo has opened up about her ongoing battle with mental health. In her heartfelt message coming during Mental Health Awareness Month, she revealed the impact of grief and depression on her life.

In a candid Instagram post, she shared her feelings, stating, “My mental health is deteriorating… I know this is too much information; I am scared. Not talking is killing me.”

She expressed the struggle of presenting a strong facade while feeling broken inside, adding, “I don’t look like I am sick, but I am dying from grief, anxiety, and so depressed. I wanted to heal away from the public, but I work in public, and I have to show up the way I am showing up in these pictures.”

Brenda also shared her thoughts about seeking help: “I have been thinking of going to the hospital for help, but I have two young kids that I can’t be away from for too long.” She reflected on the hidden nature of her struggles, noting, “Mental health is crazy because you’ll never see me sad in public, but I am struggling even to sleep now. My mind is on a spiral.”

Brenda has always been vocal about mental health according to IOL, she has shared a more personal aspect of her life –  her struggle with chronic anxiety.

Despite dealing with these personal challenges, she continues to thrive professionally. She recently celebrated her three nominations for the 30th edition of the South African Music Awards (SAMAs).
