Experiencing back pain or headaches? Here’s when to visit a chiropractor

For years people have viewed things like back pain, headaches, and fatigue as some of the effects of a poor lifestyle and being overworked, and while a simple trip to the spa, or a good night’s rest may aid your recovery, if this state is a continuous occurrence, then perhaps you need to see a chiropractor.

Yes – we have all seen the videos making their rounds on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok showing how some of our favourite celebrities as well as ordinary people have their backs, necks, and thighs cracked. As daunting as it may seem, this could perhaps be the perfect thing to get your health back in order.

According to the health and wellness publication Cleveland Clinic a chiropractor is the one responsible for treating many conditions which affect both the nervous system and musculoskeletal system.

“Think of a chiropractor as a doctor who cares for any kind of muscle, bone or joint pain or lower dysfunction. The most common reasons for a chiropractor adjustment include lower back pain, neck pain, muscle pain and headaches,” explains the above–mentioned publication.

Additionally, Cleveland Clinic highlights that the way this is done is when a licenced chiropractor uses their hand or other instruments to manipulate the joints in your body. This adjustment helps to reduce pain as well as correct your body’s alignment and how it functions and compliments the traditional medical care.

Here are some of the benefits of visiting a chiropractor as highlighted by the health and wellness publication Healthline:

  • Improves posture
  • Aids athletic performance
  • Reduces scoliosis symptoms
  • Affordable treatment for chronic back pain
  • Eases headache symptoms
  • Improves neck pain

According to Liverpool Chiropractic Clinic, the difference between a chiropractor and a physiotherapist is that a chiropractor focuses more on the spine and pelvis alignment and its effect on the nervous system, whereas physiotherapists focus on mobilising the muscle with exercises.
