South Africa has not known peace since the announcement of Chris Brown’s upcoming concert set to take place in Johannesburg this December, whether it is feminists advocating against the singer from coming, or the group of Avengers that have assembled to defend his honour. Media personality Anele Mdoda has spoken out and given her two cents on the situation.
This saga has revealed how divided South Africa is when it comes to issues such as GBV and feminism. Surprisingly, in the wake of ‘wokeness’, the young tend to take on a more conservative mentality, while the women appear more progressive, for obvious reasons.
The Women for Change page is one of the organisations that have been highly vocal about condemning the Residuals singer from being allowed to enter mzansi’s borders, due to his long history of violence against women. Although met with heavy resistance, they have been resilient and determined in their fight.
The singer is currently making headlines as feminists believe that he is now taunting them, as he has taken to his Instagram to comment, ” I can’t wait to come”. According to some internet users, this act is a display of arrogance, which is a result of him not facing consequences for the alleged heinous actions committed against women.

Media personality Anele Mdoda, who had managed to refrain from commenting on this situation has weighed in, saying, “I was not going to comment on this Chris Brown saga cause I think people must do what they want with their money but this is sick,” she said.

Of course, her comment was met with plenty of backlash, with Chris Brown’s loyal fanbase quickly coming to his defence, citing that he is merely showing appreciation to those who have supported him by buying tickets to the concert.
So what he should have written if people gave him their undying support by buying his ticket within 2 hours. He’s happy to come and sing for people who have shown undying love for him.
