Fans call for Cassper Nyovest to perform iconic hit at Tito Mboweni funeral

by Sergio Miller

As the country and internet community find themselves coming to grips with the sudden passing of former minister of finance Tito Mboweni, others have already begun sending suggestions on possible tributes ahead of his funeral.

Described by President Cyril Ramaphosa as a man for the people, Tito has gained much popularity among South Africans due to his online presence in recent years, despite this, there was one person who appears to have always looked up to the “Twitter Chef” years before him becoming an internet sensation – and that person is multi-award-winning rapper, Cassper Nyovest.

In 2017 the prominent rapper dropped a song dedicated to the former Governor of the South African Reserve Bank titled, Tito Mboweni. Because of the catchiness of the tune, the song had many jiving on the dance floor.

It was so impressive that Tito himself tweeted about it in the year of its release.

Juju has fulfilled the task. @CassperNyovest has made contact with me.Khotso! Pula! Nala! Let the Youth dance and rejoice!Yours is the time!

Following his recent passing, an internet user re-shared a snippet of the music video, and this has since sparked a conversation among the online community.

Many have now requested that the newly converted Christian, Cassper, should perform the song as a tribute at Tito’s funeral which is set to take place on the 19th October in Tzaneen, Limpopo.

He definitely should perform at the funeral or memorial service.
