Tips to clean pet hair off your clothes

by Staff Bona

Pet parents know the struggle of pet hair on clothes too well. These lovable furry friends tend to leave quite a mess on your clothes. A combination of strategies can help remove fur from your laundry.

Use a hair remover roller.

Use a hair remover roller to remove loose hair from your clothes before washing. Most inexpensive pet hair removers are also reusable, making them cost-effective alternatives. So before loading fur-covered items into the washing machine, use a hair remover first.

Shake the clothes before washing.

One of the easiest ways to get off loose pet hair is to shake the clothes before loading them into the washing machine. When using this method, it’s best to shake your clothes away from clean clothes as the fur will fall onto the clean clothes. If you don’t have a hair remover this alternative method works well enough.

Groom your pets regularly.

The best way to keep your laundry free of fur is to prevent hair buildup in the first place. Groom your pets with special combs to remove loose hairs from building up and being all over your home. Regular washes can also help especially if you have massive shedding dogs. Washes at least once every two weeks is vital.

Clean your washing machine.

If you have a pet that sheds a lot it’s crucial to keep up with your washing machine maintenance to avoid hair buildup. Pet hair builds up quickly, clogging filters and reducing the effectiveness of your washing machine. Most washing machines have a filter that traps hair and other debris, check on those regularly.

Cover your furniture.

If your pet likes to sleep on your couches or beds, it is good to keep them covered and protected. Protecting these areas with designated fur covers means you’ll have less hair to deal with. All pets have favourite sleeping areas, these are places you should cover more to avoid any build-up of pet hair.
