‘My Brothers Keeper’ actor Nkanyiso Mchunu finds himself in hot water as he is allegedly out on an R500 bail after an encounter with law enforcement earlier this week.

According to City Press, the ‘Umkhokha’ star is facing potential fines or worse, jail time after he was apprehended by Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) during a roadblock operation.

A police officer who spoke to the above-mentioned publication revealed that the popular actor who has stolen the hearts of many was found to be above the legal drinking limit when tested with a breathalyser. “It was a routine operation in Randburg; he was stopped, we suspected that he was under the of alcohol and we asked him to step out of the vehicle so he could take a breathalyser test. It was then discovered that he was above the legal limit and he was then detained,” the officer told City Press.

A different police officer revealed that the TV personality was ill-mannered, stating that he cannot get arrested as he is a celebrity.

The arrest and bail amount of R500 was confirmed by police spokesperson Mavela Masondo.

Internet users seem to be unimpressed upon hearing the news, as they cite alcoholism to be a rising issue in the country, with some expressing that they would like the law to make an example of the actor, in an effort to re-stigmatise drinking and driving.
