Health benefits of morning sex

It has been proven by experts that starting your day with sex can have a range of benefits for your physical and mental health, relationships and even productivity.

As it turns out, morning sex is more than just a romantic notion, it’s a trend that’s gaining traction among couples looking to boost their overall wellbeing. Let’s have a look at what health publications have to say about the science behind morning sex and why it’s a popular way to start your day.

Boosts mood: Health Shots believes that sex releases happy hormones like oxytocin and dopamine, instantly uplifting mood and making individuals feel mentally light and calm, promoting relaxation, focus, and cheerfulness throughout the day.

Burn calories: The above publication also mentions, that having sex in the morning is a moderate-intensity workout that burns calories, and helps stretch and relax muscles, making it an effective start to the day.

Releases stress: According to Men’s Health, “Morning sex can calm your nerves, which is associated with a host of other benefits: fewer conflicts, a better night’s sleep, lower stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure.” It is also mentioned that recent studies show that people who had just had sex before making a presentation or a speech, reported decreased blood pressure and stress levels. “If you have a big presentation coming up, consider sex as a part of your preparation routine.”

Enhances glow: Morning sex can boost circulation and DHEA levels, leading to glowing skin, and healthy hair, muscle and bone growth, states Mind Body Green. Sex in general, not just in the morning, is considered the key to looking younger, due to its role in releasing oxytocin, beta-endorphins, and anti-inflammatory molecules.

Increases bond: The FullMast Men’s Health Clinics state that oxytocin, the “love hormone,” can strengthen a couple’s bond during sex. “A recent study showed that heterosexual men in monogamous relationships were more likely to keep their distance from women who weren’t their partners after receiving a dose of the hormone.”

Good for your brain: Engaging in morning sex, can enhance brain health by boosting neural connectivity, releasing neurotransmitters, and enhancing blood flow, according to Quinn.
