Sonia Booth opens up on divorce battle, ‘It drained me emotionally, physically and financially’

by Sergio Miller

After more than a year of being involved in a lengthy divorce battle with ex-husband Matthew Booth, Sonia has finally opened up about the experience.

Their breakup was one which was highly publicised in 2022 after Sonia exposed her husband for having an affair with his, now business partner, Bongani Mthombeni.

Sonia took to Instagram, sharing several screenshots revealing his whereabouts and detailing multiple incidences where he slipped up and managed to be exposed.

Following a one-year and five-month-long legal battle she recently spoke to the entertainment publication Radio 2000 where she highlighted just how much weight this process has put on her.

“It drained me emotionally, physically and financially,” she revealed. Sonia highlighted that she felt it was better to endure the hard battle now than to settle and regret things later.

“It’s a roller-coaster ride. I’m grateful for the support system I have because had it not been for that, I wouldn’t be sitting here today. I think I would have been in a mental institution, or I would have died. I am not exaggerating when I say that.

In her reflection, she highlighted that everything that happened during the divorce was for her own good.

“I believe everything happens for a reason, and it was to strengthen me, to test my faith and to see how anchored I am.”

Meanwhile, the entrepreneur, says that her mother, aunt and children have been her biggest supporters during this time.

“Having my boys show me the love they do, not once have they judged me. They love me unconditionally and remind me daily of what an incredible mother I am. That keeps me alive.”
