BI Phakathi responds to scamming accusations: ‘I bother nobody’

by Samantha Mochele

BI Phakathi is renowned for his heartwarming videos where he generously gives cash to the homeless and those in need.

BI Phakathi, whose real name remains undisclosed, has garnered a massive following by documenting his acts of kindness online. His videos showcase him delivering wads of cash to individuals facing severe economic hardship. However, his decision to keep his face hidden has led to a recent wave of allegations questioning the authenticity of his charitable work.

The guest on the Daily Hustle podcast and Chris Kunene argued that by not revealing his identity, BI Phakathi may be misleading people or using his platform for personal gain even suggested that his actions might be a form of deception rather than genuine charity and that if he is genuinely doing good, he should reveal his identity, pointing to example Zola 7 who also helped people without hiding his face.

In a direct response to the accusations, BI Phakathi took to X (formally Twitter) to address the matter. He wrote, “I bother nobody, not a single person. These are serious allegations to make on a record. If you want my attention you won’t get it for this foolishness but my lawyer can give you attention.”

In a post shared by @Bidegah on X, DJ Sbu defended BI Phakathi, arguing that the focus on BI Phakathi’s identity distracts from his charitable work. Dj Sbu suggested that people are more interested in criticising BI Phakathi’s anonymity rather than acknowledging his positive contributions.
