IFP MP and Deputy National Chairperson of Youth Brigade, Sanele Zondo’s wife Simenyiwe Dlomo-Zondo set the record straight after she had been reported missing.
As per reports by entertainment publication, ZiMoja, Simenyiwe took to an Instagram live to share her whereabouts after her family reported her missing, adding that, she was not missing but hiding from her husband.
In the live video, she said: “I have been quiet for a long time about the abuse, I have been suffering at the hands of my husband. Ever since we got married, he has never treated me like one of his wives. The man couldn’t spend a night with me. The only people that mattered in his life were his mother and his first wife.”
Since the gender-based violence claims made by the wife, news publication TimesLive reported that Sanele had been suspended from his duties by the political party.
Speaking to the above-mentioned news publication on the GBV claims against Sanele, IFP’s national spokesperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa confirmed that, Simenyiwe had been located and live and that Sanele would be put on ‘special leave’ till further notice.
According to ZiMoja, the couple got married in March, adding that, Sanele’s estranged wife alleged that she was being abused by her husband just months after tying the knot. She also stated that according to what her mother-in-law stated Sanele wanted to take another wife in September.
“I was made to sleep in a shack with no monthly allowance. I even made my father aware of everything that had been happening there. Nobody wanted to listen to me. My husband only started giving me grocery money in June. The same man broke my phone because he didn’t want me to be successful. I had a good decorating business, but he is making sure that I don’t become independent so that he can control me,” she says.
