Blogger Musa Khawula not dead; battling legal cases in court

by Staff Bona

Rumours circulating on social media about the death of controversial blogger Musa Khawula have been firmly debunked.

Musa, currently serving a 60-day sentence after failing to appear in a Gauteng court regarding a civil case, made an appearance in the Vredenburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, according to a report by The SundayWorld.

Contrary to online claims suggesting his death, Musa appeared in court dressed in the recognisable orange prison attire.

Known for his highly contentious blog posts, Musa has long been controversial, drawing legal threats from several celebrities over the years for his bold and often inflammatory allegations.

In addition to these civil matters, Musa is also facing a serious criminal charge: he has been accused of murdering his then-boyfriend, Wandile Khambule, in March 2022.

In a candid interview, Musa admitted to stabbing and killing Wandile but maintained that his actions were in self-defence, as reported by IOL. The murder case is just one of many legal battles the blogger has faced in recent years.

Musa was recently embroiled in a high-profile defamation case involving Nozuko Mbalula, wife of ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula.

He was ordered to retract defamatory statements he made on social media and to pay R1 million in damages after accusing Nozuko and her business partner, Michelle Perrow, of bribery in securing government tenders worth R150 million.

Musa was also found guilty in another case involving businessman Jade Harris Orren, where he made defamatory statements about his marriage.

In a now-deleted post, Musa stated that he lacked the funds to comply with the court’s order.
