Married at First Sight is a reality television show that follows hopeful singles who are ready for the long-term commitment of marriage, however, the twist is that the partners are selected by a team of relationship experts. This means that the respective couples meet for the first time at the alter, thereafter, the show follows their journey while they get to know each other on a deeper level.

Law student Litsaonelo Seturumane and data analyst Khutso Mokeona are among the four couples who participated in this year’s edition of the show. The couple made a lasting impression as their strong personalities captured the hearts of viewers of the show. Their initial chemistry made viewers believe they were a match made in heaven, however, a few conflicting arguments led to irreconcilable differences between the couple.

The couple recently sat down for an interview on News24’s RealiTea Kay where they opened up about their experience on the show, and what is next for them now that they have come out of the show. They both revealed that they both entered the show because they felt that they were in the right space to seek long-term commitment and the show was an unconventional but fun way to do so.

Litsaonelo also opened up about how dealing with and managing her mental illnesses while also navigating the show was a challenge for her, however, she also expressed that she did learn about better ways to deal with her illnesses through this. “Watching and being in the experience, I realised that I don’t do well in social settings,” she says, attributing this to her obsessive-compulsive personality disorder as well as bipolar disorder.

Khutso shared his experience with getting to know Listanelo, who is affectionately known as ‘Dee’ and the challenges that came from this. He revealed that being from different backgrounds was a challenge initially, however through lengthy conversations, the couple learnt to find creative ways to connect. “It was apparent from day two or day three that we were from different backgrounds so we had to talk extensively just to find a middle ground.”

The couple have expressed that they are now trying to make sense of their new lives since the show and adjusting accordingly. While Khutso has seen a drastic change in his everyday life with more people recognising him from the show, Dee happily admits that not much has changed for her. They both look forward to getting back to their personal lives of being the best parents and family members to their loved ones.
