South African singer and actor Phila Mandlingozi is in mourning following the death of his grandfather. The esteemed actor took to social media to express his grief and pay tribute to the man who played a significant role in his life.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Phila shared a touching message about his grandfather, reflecting on the moments he had on his life and career. “Uwile umthi omkhulu(The big tree has fallen). One of the sweetest old men I know. I will miss you so much. Thank you for who you were for and to me. I will continue to make you proud and entertain you from this side.. Bhungane!!,”Phila wrote.

In addition, TshisaLIVE reached out to Ringo Madlingozi Phila’s father for a comment on the passing of his grandfather. In response, he said, “Yes, we are still busy with preparations.”

Adding to the complexity of this time, Phila is also occupied with filming and shooting for the reality show Born Into Fame a Showmax Original reality show. The series follows six South Africans with famous parents as they try to live up to their family legacies while discovering their own unique paths to success.

According to ZiMOJA, last year, Phila faced a career setback when he faced public scrutiny regarding the quality of his acting and alleged diva tendencies, which contributed to his dismissal from the show Gqeberha The Empire.
