Struggling veteran actor Carlo Radebe in the doldrums, needs cash to survive

by Staff Bona

Renowned South African actor Carlo Radebe, a beloved figure known for his role in the popular TV show “Back Stage,” is enduring some of the most challenging times of his life.

In an emotional and candid Facebook post, Carlo shared the harsh realities of his ongoing struggle to find work and meet ends. “I’m hoping the winter of discontent is nearing its end,” he expressed, holding onto hope despite the overwhelming adversity.

Carlo’s story is a painful reminder of how even the most talented and experienced actors can face difficult times.

For the past three years, Carlo has faced a relentless battle to maintain his dignity and survive without a steady income. “I’m holding on with dogged determination, waiting for the dam to burst and for work to start rolling my way before the year is over,” he wrote, a testament to his resilience and unwavering spirit.

The COVID-19 pandemic dealt a severe blow to Carlo’s career, as it did to many in the entertainment industry.

The pandemic not only stripped him of his livelihood but also led to his eviction, leaving him without a place to call home. As reported by TimesLive, Carlo’s situation has become increasingly dire.

In his heartfelt plea, Carlo reached out to his fans, asking for financial support to help him through this critical time.

“I’m reaching out to you, hoping you can find it in your hearts to help me survive this 11th hour. The donations I received in April only lasted four days. Promises of work and a place to live fell through, leaving me adrift with no follow-up or apology.”

Earlier this year, reports surfaced that Carlo, once a prominent star of beloved TV shows and films, was forced to rely on the Social Relief of Distress Grant of just R350 to survive.

Although fans generously responded to his previous appeal, Carlo now finds himself in urgent need of help once more.

His story is a poignant reminder of the fragile nature of fame and the importance of community support during times of crisis.
