Nota Baloyi accuses ex-wife of marrying him to gain citizenship

by Sergio Miller

With Miss South Africa finalist Chidimma Adetshina dominating the news headlines over the past two weeks because of the controversy centred around her true ethnicity, the music mogul Nota Baloyi has jumped on the bandwagon sharing a personal experience of his own involving a foreign national.

While he has previously been supportive of Chidimma in her quest to become the next Miss SA, Nota, renowned for his controversial opinions and fearless approach to what he shares on social media recently took to the platform X (formerly Twitter), highlighting that he was used by ex-wife, and Zimbabwean-born singer Berita Khumalo to gain South African citizenship.

In the post, he wrote: “I know from personal experience how a deceitful woman married me to gain citizenship, and when she couldn’t pretend anymore, she came to the timeline to insinuate that I endangered her life…

“I know the lengths these evil people will go to become South Africans and defraud our country!” he concluded.

In June this year, it was reported that the once loving had finally ended their relationship after Berita first revealed news that they had separated in 2022.

According to a report by the news and entertainment publication Sunday World Berita left their marital home in 2022 after revealing that Nota’s mental health issues had taken its toll on their relationship.

Meanwhile, after the official announcement of their divorce, Nota highlighted that he ensures that she does not leave with anything.

“The lesson is to make sure that she leaves with nothing of yours and loses half of everything she gained. Another lesson is to marry in your class. Bringing someone up out of poverty is like going to bed with a snake that is starving itself to build up the appetite to swallow you whole,” was what he wrote at the time.
