Liz Prins, a reality TV star on The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip – South Africa, recently addressed a moment from the show that sparked significant backlash on social media.
During the dinner they had, Liz dismissed fellow cast member Christall Kay’s traumatic upbringing.
According to TshisaLIVE, Reflecting on the incident, Liz expressed regret and apologised to Christall, acknowledging her comment was hurtful and unfair.
“I regret the comment I made to Christall at the final dinner when I said; “You can’t have trauma because you are white’. At that moment I was mad at all of them. I am very sorry about that. I even sent Christall an apology because that was not nice and I felt bad about it. But she and I have spoken about it, and I have said I am sincerely sorry,” she told the publication.
Adding to the drama, Mel Viljoen, founder of Tammy Taylor Nails SA revealed Bev Steyn’s racial remarks towards Liz Prins. During the episode, Mel didn’t hold back and shared what was said behind Liz’s back by a fellow cast member.
This revelation led to a confrontation between Liz and Bev. During a boat conversation, Liz confronted Bev about her remarks. Bev had said she had to remind herself that Liz is coloured, not white. “I get hurt when people talk about such issues, racism, I don’t like it. It is not nice. Just see people as we are, you know,” Liz expressed.
Bev admitted her comment was wrong and explained her upbringing influenced her thinking and she regrets what she said.
