Former Real Housewives of Johannesburg star Brinnette Seopela and Gugu Khathi are furious after a clip featuring a fiery altercation with fellow housewife Christall Kay was recently aired by Multichoice on The Real Housewives: The Ultimate Girls’ Trip South Africa, where the housewives travelled to Jamaica.
Before the video aired, Christall and Lethabo were engaged in a debate about the events of that day. Christall appeared to misrepresent the situation, prompting Lethabo to correct her by providing a more accurate account of what transpired.
In the video, Christall and Gugu are in a heated argument, with Gugu using strong language. Christall then pushes Gugu onto the couch Brinnette and other women from their group intervene to separate them and prevent further conflict.
According to ZiMoja, in another clip, Christall is restrained by two bouncers while Gugu kicks her while she is seated on the couch. The altercation, which involved fighting and screaming for several minutes, ends with Christall crying on the floor. The video was released to ZiMoja by a former employee of Ayepyep Lifestyle Club, where the scene was filmed.
The mentioned publication states that sources close to the situation reveal that Brinnette and Gugu have lodged a formal complaint with the pay channel, accusing them of portraying them as hooligans. The two were reportedly shocked to see the fight on TV after being assured that it would never be aired. “Imagine receiving calls from business associates questioning your behaviour on TV. You would also be disappointed,” a source said. The ladies were also upset that their consent was not sought before the footage was broadcast. “They were all taken by surprise. None of them saw it coming,” the source added.
ZiMoja has learned that when the ladies inquired about the airing of the footage, they were told a former producer leaked it. Both declined to comment, citing the matter as a legal issue.
