Yet another vow from the newly appointed minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie; this time he has revealed that he is in talks with relevant people to bring Formula 1 racing back to South Africa.

Formula One, commonly known as Formula 1 or F1 is the highest class of international racing for open-wheel single-seater formula racing cars. From the start of his term as sports minister, the Patriotic Alliance (PA) leader set the tone with his promises to improve sports in South Africa and become reachable on social media. One X (formerly Twitter) user asked Gayton if it’s possible to get F1 to return to the country.

In response to this X user, the minister took to his X page to share that he is working on bringing the sport back to SA. When responding, he said: “I have set up meetings with relevant people already, my term will be a failure if I don’t bring one of the biggest sporting tourist events to South Africa; which is F1. Our first meeting will be held at the end of August in Monaco.”

Another one said:

@LewisHamilton would gladly assist. He’s been pushing hard for @F1 to come to SA and even stated that he won’t retire until it happens. He’s definitely one person who would play a huge role in making this happen in terms of advising and all. And he loves South Africa ??
