Siya Kolisi pleads for Cape Town aid amid flood crisis

Springboks captain Siya Kolisi has appealed for assistance on behalf of Cape Town residents, who have been suffering greatly as a result of recent heavy rains.

Over the past few weeks, a powerful Atlantic storm swept the Western Cape province, resulting in widespread flooding.

More than 25 000 Eskom customers were left without electricity after inclement weather affected the network and approximately 5 000 people living in informal settlements were displaced due to damaged structures.
This week, Siya made an announcement at the team’s Umhlanga hotel, TimesLive reports. “As a team, we are thinking of everyone in Cape Town.
“We’ve seen what is happening. There is not much we can do from here but I want to ask people if you can help somebody else, please do. It is the perfect time to show Ubuntu. I know, for some reason we always come together to solve problems in South Africa. If you have resources or time and you can help somebody else, please do.

“I know there are other things happening around the country. We’ve seen some horrible videos and images,’ he added. ‘I know our game is important but people’s lives are more important than us. If we can help as a team we will definitely do so. Please lend a helping hand,” said Siya.
