Joyous Celebration’s Ntokozo Mbambo to sing national anthem at Springbok match

After the former 7de Laan actress Keabetswe “KB” Motsilanyane set the powerful tone at a sold-out Loftus Versveld Stadium for the Springboks’s game against Ireland, the singer will have the honour of taking over the microphone this coming Saturday.

The World Cup winners will play their second of two matches against an Irish team that would be looking to correct the wrongs following their defeat at the hands of the hosts last weekend.

Many would argue that the foundation laid by KB, who sang the South African national anthem in front of a passionate rugby-loving crowd, added extra passion to the Springbok performance.

The biggest highlight of her rendition was when she took a moment to pause and allow the rest of the supporters to take over the vocals – giving those in front of their television screens goosebumps.

Springboks will play at Durban’s Hollywood Bets Kings Park this weekend, where former Joyous Celebration singer Ntokozo Mbambo will be looking to showcase a similar display of passion.

As a gospel artist, the multi-award-winning singer is no stranger to moving people with her voice. She is most known for her 2015 hit song Jehova Is Your Name.

According to the news and entertainment publication The South African, she is the youngest member to have been part of the prominent gospel group Joyous Celebration, after her journey with the group started at 15 years old.

Now, at 38 she has ventured into a solo career and is continuing to reap the benefits of her gift.
