Air Botswana expands with new routes to South Africa

by Samantha Mochele

Are you travelling to Botswana soon? There’s some great news for you! Air Botswana has announced the details of an upcoming major route network expansion between Botswana and South Africa.

According to Travel News, the airline will be adding three new 50-seater Embraer jets to its fleet. Thus, passengers can anticipate the addition and reinstating of routes to the network. This is aimed at connecting Botswana to more destinations in neighbouring countries, including South Africa.

The new routes include flights from Kasane to Cape Town, Maun to Cape Town, Kasane to KMIA (Kruger), and Kasane to Windhoek.

Air Botswana also announced the reinstatement of routes which were halted by the COVID-19 pandemic. These include flights from Kasane to Johannesburg, Maun to Johannesburg, and Francistown to Johannesburg. Although these flights are expected to be available soon, no flight schedule is available as yet.

Mogolo Mokgosi, Sales and Marketing Manager for Air Botswana, shared that the airline has new fares which are designed to stimulate demand, increase sales and provide affordable air travel, particularly within new markets.

Lulu Rasebotsa, CEO of Air Botswana, hinted at the possible purchase of a fourth aircraft soon.

‘The airline views the acquisition of the Embraer jets and the expansion of routes as crucial steps towards achieving financial stability and operational efficiency’.
