DJ Tira revamps studio, with strict protocols now in place

Mzansi music mogul DJ Tira is on a quest to make up for the past losses after a burglary at his Afrotainment studio in Durban previously caused many disruptions in his music career.

In April this year, the producer, whose real name is Mthokozi Khathi, suffered a setback when thieves broke in and stole several unreleased music along with lots of expensive sound equipment which amounted to millions of rands.

Tira later attempted to retrieve his belongings by offering a cash reward of R25 000.

At the time, station manager Samkelo Mpisane told the entertainment publication ZiMoja: “We had so many things planned, and this has set us back big time.”

With his studio back up and running, Tira has since implemented strict protocols for those looking to enter its doors – No ID, No entry.

Speaking to the entertainment publication TshisaLive, Tira recently said that attempting to record music in the past three months has been the biggest challenge.

“Insurance tried to help me, but it took me halfway and I had to go all the way because I wanted it to look proper, make it nice and fresh.”

Now that his studio is revamped, he says that making good music that will have fans on the dancefloor is his number one priority.

“I’m not going to let people I don’t know to come near my studio. People should make plans when they come, they must bring their ID book or card because I am not messing around. I will keep records of everyone who comes to my studio. It was a terrible learning curve for me, I’ve learnt security is important.”
