Like many South Africans, newly appointed DA Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure Dean Macpherson is seemingly also looking for love and has created a Tinder profile to seek it.
The minister has been at the forefront of the news lately, as he wasted no time getting to work and exposing some of the corruption that took place during his predecessor’s time in office. “I have decided to take the public into confidence and advise South Africa that at least R300 million has been stolen from the department in the last 10 years in an elaborate scheme by cyber-hackers, and potentially officials within the department,” says the minister in an effort to be as transparent as possible to the people.
However, South Africa seems to be more interested in the minister’s extracurricular activities, more specifically his love life. An alleged screenshot of his Tinder profile has gone viral on X (formerly Twitter), which many have reposted, including EFF leader Julius Malema. The profile describes Dean as a 37-year-old gay man who lives between Durban and Cape Town, with some of his likes being good food, sunsets, and walks on the beach.

Some users believe that the leaking of this screenshot was no accident, but an effort to potentially bring the same fate as his colleague Ronald Gouws after a few of his videos from the past were leaked.
The Minister of Basic Education Siviwe Gwarube also saw one of her videos where she is creating her favourite drink, jagerbomb, which has had people talking recently. One can’t help but wonder whether someone has it in for these DA ministers.
