Coconut oil has numerous benefits, whether ingested, used as a moisturiser, or for promoting hair growth it does what it needs to do.

According to Healthline, these benefits include improved mental function and cholesterol levels. It also serves as a moisturiser and makeup remover. Its unique chemical structure may also benefit hair, making a hair mask a great hydrating treatment.

Byrdie mentions that this oil is popular in the natural and clean beauty markets due to its moisturising properties; you can use virgin coconut oil straight from the container without needing other products containing coconut oil.

Coconut oil has a variety of hair benefits, including recovering dry and brittle hair, reducing split ends, strengthening hair follicles, and moisturising the scalp. It also has skin moisturising and teeth whitening properties.

GlamourSA provides how you can use this coconut oil coating method:

Coconut oil coating on various hair textures:

  • Fine hair: Use coconut oil sparingly to avoid leaving a greasy behind.
  • Curly and frizzy hair: Deep nourishment helps to define curls, reduce frizz, and add shine and softness.
  • Dyed or bleached hair: Protects against chemical treatments, controls moisture, and boosts colour life.

How you should use coconut oil in your hair:

  • Apply an ample amount of pre-shampoo mask to dry hair, GlamourSA advises focusing on your split ends and dry part of your hair. Leave on for 30 minutes or overnight.
  • Oil bath: For ultimate hydration, use an oil bath after applying coconut oil.
  • Daily routine: Massage a small amount of coconut oil into dry ends to moisturise and prevent split ends.
