Osca Mbo reveals he got a R20K tip at a DJ gig

Award-winning deejay Oscar Mbo recently revealed the biggest tip he had gotten from a person who was enjoying his deejaying set was R20k.

While R20k is not even a salary to some professionals with degrees in South Africa, the deejay got the this amount in as a gift from someone he barely even knows.

This, Oscar shared when he was asked by an entertainer in a casual interview while in the groove.

Tipping deejays is now a common trend in South Africa as many do it to show love and respect to the artist and their craft. Responding to the question posed by the entertainer who asked what his biggest tip was, the Yes God hit maker mistakenly thought she was asking what his biggest advice was for others.

He responded saying, “Invest in yourself as an artist, that’s the biggest tip I can give to a younger Oscar.”

Realising that he was being asked about money instead of advice he asked, “You’re talking about a tip from a person who is attending?”

He added that three weeks back someone gave him R20k while he was playing at a show, “There’s a place I do ‘Thursdays’ at in Maboneng, it’s called Cosmo Lounge. Someone gave me R20k, it was dollars and rands. We get that a lot when the crowd is happy, they show gratitude.”
