‘Spinning and stance is not a crime,’- Gayton McKenzie to make car spinning an official sport

Patriotic Alliance (PA) leader and newly appointed Minister of Sport, Arts, and Recreation Gayton McKenzie has wasted no time expressing his excitement and some of his plans to make car spinning an official sport in the country.

It is no secret that Gayton had been openly gunning for the Home Affairs ministry, he created the tagline “Abahambe”, with the goal of the mass deportation of undocumented foreign nationals. Many expected the politician to be disappointed with his appointment, however, he has expressed that he is not disappointed at all, contrarily, his long-time supporters know that sports have always been another one of his passions. 

“Many people will not understand. We wanted Home Affairs or Police Ministry, but the true followers will know we also wanted Sports. I told the ANC (African National Congress) about sports off the record during the negotiations,” Gayton says.

One of Gaytons first promises as a minister is that he will make spinning one of the biggest sports in South Africa. This commitment from Gayton is an attempt to elevate the sport and keep young people out of jail.“I’m passionate about sports and I also know about the discrimination against poor people with indigenous sports – people in the villages,” he said.

He continues to say that contrary to what most believe, spinning and stance is not a crime and that he aims to keep his promise to spinners across the country.” I believe a child in sports is a child out of court. We will listen to your ideas and you will see the difference we will make,” says the politician who is confident that the ministry will thrive under his leadership.

Some South Africans have expressed their excitement regarding Gayton’s promise, while others have expressed some concerns, including the dangers of such a sport.
