Big Zulu’s annual celebrity soccer tournament is ready to make its much-awaited return this July and there is nobody more eager and excited to get the ball rolling than well-known rapper, Ntokozo Zakwe, popularly known by his stage name, Zakwe.

In a recent interview with the news and entertainment publication, TshisaLive, the Roots hitmaker revealed that he is currently committed to a tense and vigorous training programme to ensure that he finds himself in optimal condition when the time arrives for him to put his skills on display.

In his interview, he further highlighted that his main goal is to ensure that he loses at least 12kgs ahead of the celebrity sports tournament.

Reflecting on his progress so for he said:

“All is working, I eat well, especially midweek, and I go to the gym 4/5 times a week. I am gearing up for the celebrity games and it’s looking good. I have been chosen to play for Hip Hop before but ended up being a coach. This time I will be on the field; I have already lost 6kg. Leading to the game I am sure I will have lost about 12kg; I’m working hard.

He further encouraged others who want to make a difference when it comes to their physique to do so as well.

“Recently I’ve noticed how dedicated I am towards the gym, whether it’s jogging or cycling, and I wasn’t aware how quickly I’ve lost kilos. So, I suggest people who want to lose theirs (weight), join me.”

This year’s event is set to take place on 21 July at the Tsakane Stadium.

Earlier this year the event organiser, Big Zulu revealed that he has the desire to make the event a national one, and has plans to expand its reach nationwide.

“We didn’t want this game to be classified as a Johannesburg celebrity games event, so we’ll go to Limpopo, Western Cape, Northern Cape, North West etc.”
