As seen in the Chasing the Sun documentary, Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus is a man who prides himself on carrying his heart on his sleeve. While his passion for the game often overpowers his emotions, deep down Dr Rassie appears to be one of the kindest and warm-hearted people that this country has produced.

Recently, fans and social media followers of the Bok coach were left feeling compassionate after the 51-year-old took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to wish his mother a speedy recovery following a recent injury that led to her breaking her leg.

In the touching post to his mom, he wrote:

“Hi, Mom. Good luck with the leg break! I hope you get well soon.

Rassie is currently spending his time with the national rugby team and is therefore unable to take some time away to see to his mother’s well-being, however, he assured her that there are relatives who are more capable of seeing that she is well taken care of.

“Luckily, Gerda is close, and Martlie is very knowledgeable about almost everything in life!”

“Love you, mom,” he concluded.

Hi Ma baie sterkte met die been breek! Ek hoop ma word gou gesond gelukkig is Gerda naby en Martlie baie kundig met omtrent alles in die lewe!

Lief vir ma

Taking to the comment section, many shared their well wishes for her having a speedy recovery.

In September last year, Rassie introduced the rest of South Africa to his mom, after she celebrated her 83rd birthday.

Mara, his mom, is known to be one of his biggest supporters, after being awarded an honourary doctorate at the North West University recently, Rassie revealed that he was anxious, but a text from his mother was so comforting that it set his heart at rest.
