South African veteran actor Jerry Phele, best known for his role as Mofokeng on Emzini Wezintsizwa, has secured a role in e.tv’s popular telenovela, Smoke and Mirrors. Known for his versatility and commanding presence on screen, Jerry steps into the character of a swindler.

His entrance on the show Smoke & Mirrors, set to premiere on the 24th of June at 9 PM, reveals a twist of someone who makes big promises but who has no intentions of delivering. An announcement of his appearance was posted on X ( formerly known as Twitter) on the #etvSmokeAndMirrors page.

According to the TVSA, viewers will see him enter Martha’s (Lusanda Mbane) hotel, When Petunia (Kgaogelo Monama) asks about his hotel bills, Jerry announces he is producing a movie and will shoot it in Emnyameni. He invites her to be a part of it and once again dodges her payment requests.

Speaking with Sowetan Live, Jerry said he’s excited to be back on the screen after landing a role in Smoke and Mirrors.

“I cannot begin to explain this feeling. I’m so excited to be back, doing what I love. The operation on my hip has kept me away from acting and I’d often envy my peers whenever I’d see them acting on TV,” said Jerry.
