WATCH: The Masked Singer’s Somizi jokingly mistakes contestant for a convicted killer

by Sergio Miller

The South African version of the ever-popular American talent competition, The Masked Singer, has taken local entertainment by storm. After a successful first season, fans are getting to see just why the show has returned for a second stint.

While the past few weeks’ season two has seen celebrities from all walks of life being exposed from behind their masks, the most recent episodes had many in stitches.

This comes after a well-known media personality and one of the show’s panel detectives, Somizi Mhlongo, shocked fans and fellow panellists after mixing up the names of two prominent figures to identify who he believed was behind the mask of the Butterfly.

In the video that has since been shared on Somizi’s Instagram page, the well-known entertainer shocked everyone when he revealed that the person behind the butterfly mask was Rosemary Ndlovu.

This reveal was received with a few seconds of dead silence, especially since the lady mentioned was a convicted serial killer who was sentenced for killing six of her relatives in hopes of claiming their insurance money.

While the host, Mpho Pops, jokingly indicated the “killing” gesture to make sure Somizi knew who he was referring to, a fellow panellist asked, “Is she out?” to which Somizi later clarified himself, revealing that he was referring to the actress from Savage Beauty, who was in fact Rosemary Zimu.

In a sigh of relief, the group laughed, with Mpho Pops highlighting that they were scared for a moment.
