The multi-platinum-selling, Grammy Award-winning Nomcebo Zikode reflects on her two-week escapade to France, as a performer in one of Europe’s most famous 12-day celebrations: the Cannes Film Festival.
“Festival de Cannes” is an annual film festival which aims to premiere and celebrate new films of all genres, including documentaries, from all around the world.
“I was so excited to be chosen to perform at this festival, as it is such a huge honour for me to be able to showcase our African talent in these spaces!” exclaims the Grammy winner. She further expresses gratitude on the engagement she recieved over her current single, “Izono Zami”, which was well received abroad. “It was so lovely to experience the people in France singing my song, humming the melodies with me, even though they don’t speak isiZulu. It’s continuously amazing to see how language is not a barrier when it comes to my music!” – Nomcebo adds.
Nomcebo was booked to perform at the 10th edition Global Gift Gala ceremony, which was sold out. She was a headliner alongside the American singer-songwriter, Christina Milian and the “Desperate Housewives” prime-time series star, Eva Longoria.

Nomcebo was also awarded in France: She received an honorary medal from the Michael Jackson “Heal The World” Foundation, being recognized as an international icon in arts and culture, through her musical contribution. She was also welcomed in the “Safe World Peace” organization as a prime example of a humanitarian who fosters philanthropic efforts through the Nomcebo Zikode Foundation.
“Thank you to the Michael Jackson Family Foundation for recognizing my craft. Michael Jackson was a legendary artist, so, to be identified by a family of such a man is truly inspiring to me. I’d also like to thank the Safe World Peace organization for gifting me with this necklace. I am very passionate about impacting communities, and I strive to do more” – says Nomcebo.
Nomcebo returns to South Africa excited to unfold the next phase of her journey as a flagship recording artist and record label owner (Emazulwini Productions). “I missed being in my studio with my team. I can’t wait to get back to business and support my signees as they support me. I have so many stories to tell, and I hope one day they can also travel the world as I have!” – she exclaims.
