The popular streaming platform Showmax just put out the exciting trailer for Empini, a gripping drama series about private security, a 52-episode drama. Scheduled to premiere on 23 May 2024, with subsequent episodes airing every Thursday.

One of the coolest things about ‘Empini’ is its awesome cast. It includes famous actors like Nambitha Ben-Mazwi and Siyabonga Thwala who won lots of awards. Plus, fans get to see Nqobile Sipamla in their first big role as Masasa Fassie.

Nqobile Sipamla, known for being in popular shows like ‘Ikhaya’ and ‘Imbewu – The Seed’, takes on the role of Masasa Fassie a kind, down-to-earth lady who likes to keep to herself. But when she reconnects with an old flame, her life gets a lot more public.

In a recent Showmax statement, Nqobile expressed her excitement about ‘Empini’ describing it as an edgy show that will captivate audiences while delving into the complexities of secrecy and revelation.

She highlights the dynamics portrayed in the series, where some secrets are kept for the safety of others, while others demand exposure.

“Empini is an edgy show that will have viewers thoroughly entertained. It will showcase the intricate dynamics of how it is sometimes necessary that some secrets be kept for the safety of others, while, on the other hand, some secrets must come to light.”

For the role of Masasa, she researched different personality types and traits, understanding her character as a nurturing yet independent person in the agricultural field. Playing older characters gives her opportunities to learn and grow as an actor.

“For the Masasa role, I went into a process of researching personality types. She is in the agricultural space, which, for me, means that she is a nurturer of sorts but also quite an independent thinker[…] That is why I appreciate the challenge that comes with playing older characters: they give me so much to work with. I must say though, every character I have played has presented me the opportunity to learn, which is what I love.”
